Kennesaw, December 1, 2014 ―VJI Business Development Coordinator Courtney O’Connor volunteered to help the Thanks for Giving Program hosted by the Center for Family Resources on November 21 at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta. She was one of more than 400 volunteers that came together to sort, pack, and provide over 70,000 food items to 1,400 Cobb County families. All of the food items were donated through participation in the annual Thanks for Giving food drive that took place within the community.
“Growing up and currently working in Cobb County, I was eager to be able to dedicate my time to families located near me,” says O’Connor. “I was assigned to load the prefilled boxes of food into shopping carts. Some of the other volunteers placed additional items in the box before it was passed over to the families. I also assisted families getting to their cars in order to help them load the boxes. It truly is a great feeling knowing that the families I was able to assist had the items they needed to prepare a Thanksgiving meal.”
