Kennesaw, September 29, 2014 ― VCJI staffers Chris Wiggins, Matt Scott, and Courtney O’Connor attended the Cobb Young Professionals Leadership Luncheon with Colonel Brett Clark at the Cobb Chamber of Commerce on September 20. Colonel Clark is commander of the 94th Airlift Wing at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta.
“Colonel Clark talked extensively about leadership qualities and the traits exhibited by strong leaders,” says Scott, VJI’s newest tax consultant.” He particularly emphasized that in order to become a leader, you must become an expert in your given field.” Clark, who assumed the command of 2,500 personnel at the C-130 airlift wing, is certainly a model leader, as he has logged more than 4,000 hours flying C-130 cargo planes.
“Colonel Clark said that he takes a cautious approach in making decisions and uses what he calls ‘chair throwing’ as an essential step in his decision-making process,” says O’Connor. “I admire him for implementing positive recognition of subordinates and for encouraging top performers to continuously improve. His impressive leadership style goes hand-in-hand with the many awards and honors he has earned.”
