Kennesaw, June 6, 2016 ― VJI Client Development Manager Courtney Cole volunteered to work at the Center for Children and Young Adults (CCYA) in Marietta along with her husband, Adam, and members of Cobb Young Professionals on Saturday, June 4. The center provides a home for children and young adults who have been abused, abandoned, neglected, or are at risk. The center’s maximum capacity is 39 and currently houses 37. All the children have an opportunity to gain an education in a classroom environment, which includes young adults obtaining their GEDs. Therapists, counselors, therapy dogs, and financial advisors are also on hand at the center.
“In the VJI spirit of giving back to our local community, my husband and I were more than happy to join the rest of the Cobb Young Professionals volunteers at CCYA,” says Cole. “All of the volunteers helped with cleaning out sheds, organizing items into plastic bins, and labeling them. My husband, Adam, put his mechanical skills to good use and fixed all the kids’ bicycles by pumping air into the tires, tightening gears, and adjusting the brakes, pedals, wheels, seats, and handlebars. Overall, we had a great time in supporting an important organization in our neighborhood.”
