Kennesaw, June 1, 2015 ― V Jordan, Inc. employees trekked across town on a mission to the Ronald McDonald House near Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Their goal? Bake some goodies for the guests who stay there.
The Ronald McDonald House is a 50-bedroom state-of-the-art facility that provides temporary housing and emotional support to families of children receiving medical treatment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. The house has a special wing for children who have received transplants and is separated from the other guest rooms to protect them from getting infections.
“Our goal was to help families staying at the Ronald McDonald House enjoy some comforts of home,” says VJI CEO and President Valerie Jordan. “We were more than happy to volunteer some time to make delicious treats for the guests by preparing some of our favorite dessert recipes.”
After making arrangements with the house staff for a visit, the VJI crew showed up with bags full of ingredients and buckets full of enthusiasm. “The Ronald McDonald House is a beautiful place and its staff is very welcoming, courteous and helpful,” says VJI Client Development Manager Courtney Cole. “They have a huge kitchen that is full of all the equipment we needed to prepare some tasty goodies for the house guests.”
Two teams of VJI “bakers” prepared more than 100 dessert servings during their two-hour visit. The desserts included classic Rice Krispies bars, a Heath Bar cake, and Doubletree chocolate chip cookies. Some of the treats were eagerly scooped up by guests before VJI’s baking team bid their farewell.
“We were very impressed with the great work done for children and their families at the Ronald McDonald House,” says Jordan. “We had a lot of fun working together in the Ronald McDonald kitchen and look forward to doing what we can to help this wonderful organization in the future.”
