V Jordan Inc. Sponsors 5K Miles-4-Major Race

Kennesaw, June 10, 2013 ─ V Jordan Inc. was a sponsor of the 3rd Annual Miles-4-Major 5K Race that was held on June 8 in Marietta, Georgia. The non-profit Miles-4-Major raises awareness and financial support for families with young children who need hearing aids. This year’s family-centered outreach event started and finished at the Maple Avenue Methodist Church.

The 5K race event has a special meaning for V Jordan Inc.’s senior tax consultant, Chris Wiggins. “The history of the Miles-4-Major Race began four years ago with my nephew, Major Bultman, who was born with a number of serious birth defects. After more than a year of intensive surgeries and heart-pounding setbacks, he’s now relatively healthy. However, one of the hardest parts on his road to normalcy has been restoring his hearing.”

“What most people don’t know,” says Wiggins, “is that many health plans don’t cover hearing aids and replacement batteries. These items are relatively expensive and are hard for low-income families to buy for their hearing-impaired children.” In addition, as children grow, their $1,000 – $4,000 earpieces need to be replaced, which puts even more financial burdens on their parents.

“V Jordan Inc. is proud to be a sponsor of this community awareness event,” says Valerie Jordan, CEO and President. “Chris and his family work hard every year to coordinate this event and we are more than happy to contribute. Without their determination to help other families who face the same hardships, we would never know about this problem. What they have accomplished in helping other families since Major’s birth is a model of grass-roots community service and should serve as an inspiration to all of us to be more active in helping our neighbors.”
