Kennesaw, November 1, 2012 ─ Mendy Furlong, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at V Jordan, Inc., attended the Regional Power Lunch Meeting hosted by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce held on September 27 in Gainesville, Georgia. During the luncheon, business people and Georgia Chamber members learned more about important issues affecting the state’s business community.
“As a representative of V Jordan Inc., I was interested in knowing what the Georgia Chamber was doing in terms of strengthening the businesses in our state who are some of our most important clients,” said Furlong. “Our services are primarily directed at assisting the manufacturing, retail, and distribution industries with tax compliance issues, so I wanted to know what initiatives are being pursued that involve tax policy and strategies for growing Georgia businesses.”
Following a heartfelt opening salute and expression of gratitude to Gainesville land developer Rochester & Associates, Georgia Chamber President and CEO Chris Clark presented an overview of current issues that are being addressed by the Georgia Chamber. “The theme for his presentation was “Competitiveness in Georgia,” remarked Furlong. According to Clark, attracting and expanding businesses in Georgia depends on maintaining a competitive edge vis-à-vis other states. “Among the primary issues that will improve Georgia’s business climate,” said Furlong, “I was not surprised to hear Mr. Clark mention taxes, which is our area of expertise.”
In keeping with the Georgia Chamber’s mission of increasing jobs throughout the state, Clark also mentioned providing support to small businesses that drive innovation and technology advances, particularly in manufacturing. “Since many of our clients are Georgia manufacturers,” said Furlong, “we are very interested in supporting the Chamber’s mission and commitment to this important Georgia business sector. Whatever the Chamber can do to help these and other types of companies flourish in our state is good not only for our business, but for all of Georgia’s citizens.”
