Kennesaw, July 15, 2014 ─ The Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida was the host site of this year’s U.S. Poultry & Egg Association’s Financial Management Seminar attended by VJI Tax Manager Chris Wiggins. The annual seminar is held to ensure that industry financial managers stay informed of accounting practices and tax laws that affect the industry. Current economic conditions and trends that affect poultry and egg companies are also discussed.

“I attended many of the programs at the seminar and found them very interesting. Some standouts included the poultry industry overview presented by Mike Donohue of AgriStats, cloud computing and mobility trends given by Clint Cetti of AT&T, and the economic forecast of Dr. Terry Barr from CoBank ACB,” says Wiggins. “I am, admittedly, a numbers guy. So the presentations given by Dr. Barr and Mr. Donohue were definitely intriguing to me. Some of the information presented by them just blew me away.”

Clint Cetti, AT&T’s Director of Technical Strategy, was also impressive notes Wiggins. “Mr. Cetti gave us an idea of the trends that are emerging in new technologies that will allow all of us to store, access, and use all types of data, and to communicate with anyone and everyone on an undreamed of scale.” Chris also participated in the seminar golf tournament that VJI co-sponsored this year.
